On Wednesday, our students participated in a kick off assembly for Read Across America. Read Across America takes place on Friday with Dr. Seuss’ birthday and the idea that all students across the United States complete some extra reading on that day. We started it a couple days early with our assembly and a challenge to our school. The challenge is for us to read over 400 HOURS by Friday morning! This challenge was issued on Wednesday at the assembly.
On February 16th, a lucky group of chosen students met with Mrs. Masters in the office to partake in a BIG sub sandwich! We had a 6′ sub with ham and turkey, chips, juice, and a cookie! We had music going and visited!
Students were chosen from all of the Caught In The Act slips that were collected during December and January. The next fun activity will be in April for the months of February and March.
Student Council is doing an initiative to shower our school with LOVE. A display will be located in the front entrance area of the main building. Visitors to Heyburn will get to see all of the wonderful things kids AND staff have to say about Heyburn. Classrooms received hearts to write notes on, as well as they have been placed in areas around the school for staff members. Parents are invited to also post on a heart what they LOVE about our school (there are hearts at the office). Once the notes are finished, they can be brought to Mrs. Sanford’s room for Student Council to post.
