Welcome to the website for St. Maries Middle School. SMMS serves students in grades 6-8. The school averages about 200 students in attendance, and is served by a staff of approximately 12 full time equivalent teachers, a principal, a .6 FTE counselor, and approximately 9 classified support staff.
We are very proud of the academic accomplishments of the school, as SMMS has met or exceeded school goals for ISAT testing for the past several years. The curriculum at the middle school offers strong core instruction supported by a number of electives including music, crafts, wood shop, publications, and office aide experience. The middle school boasts a very active IDFY chapter, which stands for Idaho Drug-Free Youth. The group sponsors approximately one activity a month. SMMS has an active student council, which lines up student functions and serve as the governing board for IDFY.
The St. Maries Middle School Lumberjacks field teams in football, volleyball, wrestling, and basketball for 7
th & 8th grade students. SMMS hosts two volleyball tournaments and two basketball tournaments each year. Students are required to meet academic eligibility standards on a weekly basis.
SMMS is a closed campus. Students remain on campus during the day unless checked out by a parent. Discipline policies and dress code are listed on the website. Open enrollment for non-resident students is open on a space available basis provided the student is in good standing at their former school. Open enrollment paperwork deadlines are February 1 of the year prior to anticipated enrollment. If you have questions, please contact me at the school office at 208-245-3495.
Home school students or other virtual school students are able to enroll at SMMS on a part-time basis. The Idaho Digital Learning Academy provides online coursework that coordinates with Idaho School Districts. If you are a home school student or a student of another non-accredited school or program, your student would need a placement test to determine appropriate grade level placement prior to enrollment. Please contact the middle school office (208-245-3495) or the district office (208-245-2579) if you have any questions on enrolling a home school or other non-traditional student.
We have a high expectation that all students can learn and need to value their own work ethic. Our staff communicates frequently regarding student progress, and all parents have access to the Skyward Parent component via home computer or mobile device. If you do not have a password for this access, please contact our school secretary, Donata Rogers.
