DUAL U.S. History II #470

6 college credits

* Teacher Recommendation & Application

* Parental Responsibility to pay for Dual Enrollment Credits

This class is entirely geared towards preparing students for a national standardized AP US History exam which each student is required to take in May. Given that students pass this exam with an AP score of 3 or higher, they will earn 3 college credits. This is a college level course with a college level work load. Students will be expected to read between one and two hours each night. Students will be expected to read many supplementary books in addition to their text books. Half  the students’ grade will depend upon their ability to evaluate historical events through their writing. Students will need to critically analyze events, articles, literature, pictures, music, and political cartoons selected from various periods of  American History. It is highly recommended that students attending this course purchase a used text book online for the purpose of highlighting the text and writing in the margins. Please select any edition of the “American Passages” text, published by Thomson-Wadsworth. The purchase may be made through the office.

US Government #440

*Required of all 12th Graders

This class will cover the political framework of our government, both nationally and locally. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of being aware of our political system, understanding how the political system works, and having an active interest in our governmental activities.  Students will participate in a presidential campaign, mock trials, congressional simulation, and bill-writing.

DUAL U.S. Government #480

6 college credits

* Teacher Recommendation & Application

* Required Summer Reading

* Parental Responsibility to pay for Dual Enrollment Credits

This class is entirely geared towards preparing students for a national standardized AP Government exam which each student is required to take in May.
